LAYOFF
VIDEO INSTALLATION & SPATIAL SCULPTURE
How can architecture, light, video, and music merge into one spatial experience?
The immersive installation LAYOFF explored exactly this intersection – blurring the lines between contemporary art and club culture.
At the heart of the exhibition stood a monumental 12-meter-high polygonal sculpture, resting on three legs and fully walkable. Its angular surfaces served as a projection canvas for a custom-developed video mapping that played with motion, rhythm, and spatial perception. Inside the structure, an integrated lighting choreography created shifting layers of atmosphere and depth.

Designed for an electronic music night featuring internationally renowned DJs, the sculpture doubled as a stage: the DJ booth was embedded beneath the structure, turning the object into a performative space that enveloped the audience. Visitors moved around and through the glowing geometry – immersed in a visual soundscape of color, form, and frequency.

In the adjoining lounge area, a suspended polygonal mesh structure extended the sculptural language. Projection and light transformed it into a floating screen. At the center stood a life-sized horse sculpture – partially covered in sharp-edged white triangles – as a surreal hybrid of nature, fiction, and digital abstraction.
